Comprehensive, affordable dental care for all ages has been a mainstay in Centreville for over 30 years. In 1983, Dr Richard S. Shields set up this practice in order to provide honest, comprehensive dentistry in a welcoming environment. Dr. Chad Thorpe began working with Dr. Shields in 2013. After 2 successful years of associateship, Dr. Chad and his wife, Dr. Elizabeth “Libby” Thorpe, took ownership with the shared goal of providing excellent care to all who walk through the door. With Drs. Thorpe and their amazing team, you will experience modern dentistry in a caring, friendly environment. Our mission is to help each patient attain a beautiful, functional smile, and enjoy great oral health for years. We educate all our patients on the important connection between dental health and total body health and well-being.
A native of Southwestern Michigan, I grew up on Diamond Lake in Cassopolis. With apologies to native Michigan, I chose to complete my four years of additional training at Ohio State University, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. During dental school, I spent much time at various public health centers in underserved communities. In 2010, I traveled to Africa to provide dental treatment to people in Kampala, Uganda.
It is my hope that with a positive attitude, passionate concern for patients, and commitment to constant improvement in the dental profession I can help to create a wonderful experience at CFD.
I am a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native who became a Buckeye as I studied to earn my B.S. and D.D.S degrees from The Ohio State University. After moving once more, I am now happy to call Michigan home. I care deeply for my patients’ overall health and well-being. I aim to ease anxiety related to dental treatment and provide education to empower. In addition to CFD, I also work in public health providing care for the underserved. Away from dentistry, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family and two ridiculous dogs.
Our entire team works together to prepare thoroughly for each patient visit, and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for each patient. Achieving your ideal smile is a team effort. We have a dedicated team at Centreville Family Dentistry that wants to be your dental home for years to come.
I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI with my 9 siblings. I graduated in 2004 from Kalamazoo Valley Community College with a degree in applied science. Currently I live in Schoolcraft. I have a husband and 4 kids who enrich my life daily. Outside with my family is where I like to be! My favorite things are camping, soccer, gardening, crafting, rollers coasters, and PICKLES. Teaching about oral health is my passion because when you change a smile you transform a life. I am honored and lucky to be a part of Centreville Family Dentistry. My fun fact: I’d rather be barefoot than wear shoes!
I grew up and graduated high school in Paw Paw. Later in life, I decided to go Everest Institute in Kalamazoo, where I graduated as a Medical Administrative Assistant. I truly enjoy working here at Centreville Family Dentistry. I love seeing patients with anxiety leave our treatment rooms with a huge smile, telling us how happy they are to have found us. I have a special place in my heart for our special needs patients, as we make them feel comfortable and treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. I have 3 wonderful daughters, my oldest of which has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. I enjoy arts and crafts, sewing, and am currently working on improving my health and my family’s health through diet and exercise. I also love fishing, although I rarely get to go.
I am from Sturgis, where I live with my Husband, Lee and daughters Paige and Courtney. I graduated from Everest College in 2009 for Dental Assisting. I enjoy educating our patients and recreating their smiles using our CEREC milling device. I also enjoy kayaking, riding my motorcycle, refurbishing furniture, and any Pinterest Project. Fun fact: It takes 43 muscles to frown, and only 17 to smile!
I grew up and live in the Mendon Area. I have been a Dental Assistant for 19 years. I love meeting and finding a connection with patients. It is rewarding to see the confidence patients have in me and my ability to provide a service for them. I have a wonderful husband, Dave, two daughters (Lauren and Bailie) and a family pet named Willie. I enjoy working in our woodshop, supporting our children at sporting events, and antiques. “If you conquer your fear in a dental chair, you can conquer anything life throws at you.”
I’m from the Vicksburg/Portage area, and have lived in Kalamazoo my entire life. I love living life to the fullest with my family and friends, especially my 2 spitfire granddaughters. I enjoy living in the moment. I love learning, and try to grow personally and professionally each day. I have workered at Centreville Family Dentistry for 9 years, and enjoy meeting new people and building relationships with my patients. I work to educate and help my patients to attain optimal health and a smile to be proud of. “Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and the responsibility to give something back by becoming more.” -Anthony Robbins
I grew up on Indian Lake, graduated from Vicksburg High School and the Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program. I am married and have a daughter that lives and works in Colorado, and a son who is a student/athlete at Three Rivers High School. I also have 2 very spoiled beagle mix rescue dogs. I enjoy cycling, skiing, running, hiking, kayaking, and teaching aerobics. Professionally, I am passionate about promoting health and educating patients on the mouth/body connection to patients of all ages. My fun fact: One can actually kayak from Indian to the Gulf of Mexico!
I grew up in Vicksburg, and graduated from Vicksburg High School. I met and married my husband, Dick, in 1986. After 30 years, our family keeps growing! Our daughter Kylie married Jake in 2014, our son Chad married Katie in 2015, and have just blessed us with our first grandson, Dexter William. Dick and I enjoy Junking (antiquing) and redoing furniture. I have worked in dentistry since 1994, and in 2004 moved from dental assistant to the front office when the opportunity arose. The best part of my job is interacting with the patients and helping them see their oral health is worth the investment. My fun fact: I love racing ATC 70 Three-wheelers.
